Fracture toughness anisotropy of Ti17 billet processed by the β forging

چکیده

The fracture behavior of Ti17 billet processed by the β forging was examined. results demonstrate that specimen orientation has a pronounce effect on toughness value as well crack propagation path. anisotropy can be attributed to elongated and aligned grain. preferentially nucleates propagates along precipitate-free zone nearby grain boundary. It causes either deflection or delamination, enhancing resistance compared one weak orientation. exceptionally good combination strength achieved activating delamination toughening. transforms under plane-strain condition into series processes in plane-stress through thickness, is enhanced. Furthermore, prediction model considering both intrinsic extrinsic contributions constructed. show varies greatly than different orientations, indicating plays significant role billet.
